RECREATE!

On October 18th, Erin had her first haircutting class as Frederic's new In Salon Haircutting Coach. She went over two styles in the RECREATE collection which focused on new ways to cut classic shag and stacked bob styles. Katie, Morgan and Jay attended the class and each did an excellent job on their mannequin heads.  Erin's class was fun, informative, insightful, and there were SNACKS!

Thanks for being a very good teacher/snack maker Erin!

Fun and Food... What else do you need?

We had a team building cooking class at Woodhaven Farm last night and it was incredible! We talked, laughed and ate until we were unable to move. We were split into three teams and prepared a pan seared/oven baked rosemary cream chicken dish, a lovely jarlsberg dip with pita chips,

yummy garlic mashed potatoes, a light spinach salad, green beans with carmelized onions and individual chocolate molten cakes. It was SINFUL how good those cake were. Everyone had a great time, and we all worked so well together. The class gave us an opportunity to be creative, to interact with each other on a more personal level, to learn how our co-workers operate in a team setting and just have fun together OUTSIDE of the workplace.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

During the month of October, Aveda donates a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each special edition Pink Ribbon Hand Relief™ product to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 1993 by Evelyn H. Lauder and dedicated to funding clinical and genetic research on breast cancer at medical institutions across the globe.

In alignment with Aveda’s mission, Breast Cancer Awareness donations from Aveda North America are used to explore the environmental causes and links to breast cancer, such as exposures to toxic chemicals and pollutants. For a number of years Aveda’s funding has been directed to a research project at Columbia University in New York that studies the interaction between environmental exposures and genetic susceptibility to breast cancer.

Since 2004, Aveda has contributed $910,330 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. In addition to the corporation’s contributions, Aveda employees and guests also have an opportunity to donate to the BCRF through fundraising activities held by the Aveda network throughout the month of October.
